New: just say what you need
Hands full, fridge open, and something to add to the list? Tap the microphone and say it the way you'd say it. Umeli shows you what it heard first.
Noor is at the sink with wet hands and spots that the milk is nearly gone. Mila shouts that the yoghurt has run out. Typing won’t work right now, and in five minutes it’ll be forgotten. So now you can speak your shopping list.
Talk the way you talk
Next to the field on your shopping list there’s a microphone. Tap it and say what you need, the way you’d say it at the table: “Two packs of milk, oh and some tomatoes.”
You don’t need a tidy list. Umeli picks out the products and amounts. Changed your mind halfway? On an iPhone with Apple Intelligence you can correct yourself as you go: “Three peppers, no, make that four.”
See it first, then add it
Your list is shared, so nothing lands on it by accident. When you stop talking, you’ll see what Umeli picked out under “This is what I understood”. If a name is wrong, change it. If you don’t need something after all, untick it. One tap adds the rest. Didn’t go well? Tap Again and say it once more.
Good to know
Speaking your list is free. You don’t need Plus for it. Reading your sentence happens on your iPhone, not on our server.
Umeli understands spoken English best on an iPhone with Apple Intelligence. On older iPhones it may pick up less of what you said, so keep your sentences short and have a good look at the result. Umeli won’t catch everything, and that’s exactly why you always check first.
The Dutch version of Umeli can do a little more for now: it also picks up who an item is for, which day it’s for, and what you want taken off the list again. In English, you can add a note or a day yourself once the item is on your list.
The microphone is on your regular shopping list. It isn’t on the live list you use in the shop.
